Viola Davis has been flooding my timeline ever since she made history by winning Best Supporting actress for Fences. What history is she making you ask? Davis is the first Black star to win an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony for acting. She is also now the first Black actress to have been nominated for three Academy Awards.

Only 22 others have accomplished this feat and gained the honor of the triple crown. In her acceptance speech, Davis notes that, “I became an artist, and thank God I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.”

Davis has never been one to shy away from an acceptance speech. Her past win at the Emmy Awards in 2015 marked a notable quote from Davis as well, that being, “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity.”

The aftermath of Davis’ win is everywhere. Congratulations are coming from all celebrities including the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae, Ellen Degeneres, and Cara Delevingne.
